Terms of use
The agreement between you and Audiken, in plain words. By making an account you agree to it.
Last updated October 12, 2026.
The short version
- Your files and everything made from them are yours.
- Record other people only with their permission, and follow the rules of your school or workplace.
- AI can be wrong. Check what matters before you rely on it.
- The paid plan renews each month until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time.
1. Your account
You need to be at least 16 to use Audiken. An account is for one person; keep your password to yourself, and tell us at support@audiken.com if you think someone else has used it. Give an email address you can actually read, because that is how we reach you about your account.
2. What you may use it for
Audiken is for following what is said in lectures, meetings and talks, and for working and studying from it afterwards. When you use it, you agree to:
- Record only with permission. You are responsible for having the agreement of the people you record that the law and the rules where you are require. Audiken does not announce itself, so you have to.
- Follow the rules that apply to you, including your school’s rules on recording, on tests and on using AI in assessed work, and your employer’s and clients’ rules on confidential information.
- Add only material you have the right to use.
- Not misuse the service: no breaking the law, no trying to get into other people’s accounts or around the limits of your plan, no reselling it, and no automated use that it was not built for.
We may suspend an account that breaks these rules. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first and give you the chance to download your work.
3. Your work
You own what you add to Audiken and what it makes for you from it. You give us permission to store and process that material only as far as is needed to run the service for you, which includes sending it to the services named in the privacy policy. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to train AI models.
You can download everything as a zip file, or delete your account and everything in it, at any time, from the gear in the app.
4. What the AI writes
Answers, transcripts, summaries, flashcards, calculations and documents are produced by automated systems. They can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and a transcript can mishear. Audiken names its sources so that you can check; for anything that matters, do. Nothing Audiken produces is legal, financial, medical or other professional advice, and it cannot tell you what will be on an exam.
5. Plans and payment
- The free plan includes 1 hour of recording a month and a small monthly allowance for the AI features. It is paid for from a fixed monthly budget shared by everyone on it, so it can pause for the rest of a month if that budget runs out. We may change what the free plan includes.
- Premium costs $26.99 CAD a month and includes 8 hours of recording a month and a larger AI allowance. It is charged in advance when you subscribe and then on the same day each month, by our payment provider, Stripe, until you cancel. Taxes may be added where they apply.
- Limits. Hours and allowances start again each month and do not carry over. When one is used up, that part of the service pauses until the next month.
- Cancelling. Cancel at any time from the gear in the app, under “Manage or cancel subscription”. You keep Premium until the end of the month you have paid for, and you are not charged again.
- Refunds. We do not refund part of a month, except where the law requires it. If something went wrong on our side, write to support@audiken.com and we will put it right.
- Price changes. If the price of your plan changes, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.
6. The service
We work to keep Audiken running and your work safe, but we provide it as it is, without a promise that it will always be available or free of faults. It depends on other companies’ services, which can fail. We may add, change or remove features. If we ever close the service, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice and the means to download your work.
7. Responsibility
To the extent the law allows, Audiken is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost marks, lost profits or lost data, and its total liability to you for anything connected with the service is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or 50 Canadian dollars if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms takes away rights that the law where you live says cannot be taken away.
8. Ending
You can stop using Audiken and delete your account at any time. If you have a paid plan, cancel it first. We may close an account that has broken these terms. Sections that by their nature should outlast an account, such as responsibility and the law that applies, continue after it ends.
9. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and of Canada that apply there, and disputes go to the courts of Ontario, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them elsewhere.
10. Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so here and tell you by email before the change takes effect. If you keep using Audiken after that, the new terms apply.
