Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use Audiken, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or captions.
The standard we work to
Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, for this website and for the Audiken app at audiken.com/app.
We have not yet had Audiken checked by an independent accessibility auditor, so we do not claim that it fully meets that standard. This page says what we know falls short, and we update it as we fix things.
What we know falls short today
- Live recording. New transcript lines and live answers appear on screen as they arrive, but they are not yet announced to screen readers as they appear. You can read them by moving through the page.
- Transcripts are made by speech recognition. They can mishear words, names and numbers, so they are not a replacement for professional captions or a note-taker where you need exact words.
- Charts and progress pictures in the app show some numbers as pictures. The same numbers are usually written next to them, but not everywhere yet.
- Files made with AI (slides, documents, flashcards and study sheets) are not checked for accessibility, for example for reading order or picture descriptions.
- Your own files are shown as they are. A scanned PDF with no text, or slides without picture descriptions, stay that way.
- The check that you are a person on the sign-up page comes from Cloudflare. If it stops you, write to us and we will set up your account another way.
What works today
- The website has a link to skip straight to the main content. Everything is meant to work with a keyboard alone; if something does not, tell us.
- Formulas are written so screen readers can read them as maths.
- The app follows your device's setting to reduce motion, and text can be enlarged with your browser's zoom.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on Audiken is hard or impossible for you to use, write to support@audiken.com and say what you were trying to do, the page, and the device, browser and any assistive technology you use. A person reads every message, and we will tell you what we can do about it. If you need something from Audiken in another format, ask at the same address.
