Privacy policy

What we collect, why, who else handles it, and how to get it out or have it deleted. Written to be read, not to be scrolled past.

Last updated October 12, 2026.

The short version

  • Your files, transcripts and everything Audiken makes for you are kept in your own account, apart from everyone else’s.
  • We do not sell your data, show ads, or use tracking cookies.
  • To do its job, Audiken sends your content to a small number of services, named below, each for one purpose.
  • You can download everything, or delete your account and everything in it, at any time, yourself.

Who we are

Audiken is operated from Canada. For anything in this policy, write to privacy@audiken.com. That address reaches the person responsible for protecting personal information at Audiken.

What we collect, and why

WhatWhy
Your email addressTo let you sign in and to send you messages about your account, such as a password reset or a receipt. If you only asked for an invitation, this is all we hold.
Your passwordHandled by our sign-in provider. We never see or store it.
What you add: files, photos, typed notesSo Audiken can answer from your own material and build documents and study material from it.
Your recordingsThe sound from your microphone is sent to a speech service to be turned into text. We keep the text. We do not store the audio.
What Audiken makes for you: transcripts, insights, flashcards, chats, filesSo they are there when you come back.
How much you use: hours recorded and AI use each monthTo apply the limits of your plan.
Your plan and paymentsIf you pay for a plan, the payment is taken by our payment provider. We never see or store your card number. We keep which plan you are on and the provider’s reference for your subscription.
A record of problems: errors and refused requests, without your contentTo find and fix faults and to stop abuse. Kept for 90 days.
Technical details of each request, such as your IP addressNeeded to deliver the site and to limit abuse. Held in our hosting provider’s logs.

Counting visits, without cookies

We count how many people visit each page so we know what is useful. The counting uses no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not follow you from site to site. You can switch it off with “Don’t count me” in the notice on your first visit, and it is off automatically if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.

Audiken itself stores two small things in your browser: your sign-in, so you stay signed in, and your choices in the app, such as where you left the math tab. Neither is used to track you.

Who else handles your data

Audiken could not work without these services. Each receives only what it needs for its one job.

ServiceWhat it doesWhat it receives
SupabaseSign-in, and storage for your files and recordsYour email, your files and everything Audiken makes for you. Stored encrypted.
AnthropicThe AI that writes answers, documents, flashcards and reviewsThe parts of your files and transcripts needed for the task. Anthropic states that it does not train its models on this content and deletes it within 30 days. Copies of files it holds for reading are deleted when you delete your account.
ElevenLabsTurning speech into textThe audio of your recording, as you record. ElevenLabs may keep the audio and its transcript under its own privacy policy, and that policy allows it to use them to improve its services.
VercelHosting the site and counting visitsEach request to the site, including your IP address.
StripeTaking payment for paid plansOnly if you pay: your email, your card details and your billing address, which you give to Stripe directly on its own page.

These services operate mainly in the United States, so your data is processed there and may be processed in other countries where they operate. We do not sell your data or share it with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

Recording other people

A lecture or a meeting contains other people’s voices. You are responsible for having permission to record, under the rules of your school or workplace and the law where you are. We built Audiken to make that easier, not to hide it: see how to ask permission to record a lecture, and in a meeting, say at the start that you are recording. If you believe you were recorded without permission, write to privacy@audiken.com and we will act on it.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and content: until you delete them. Things you remove go to a trash area so they can be recovered, and are deleted for good with your account or when you ask.
  • Requests for an invitation: until you are invited or ask to be removed.
  • Payment records: kept by our payment provider for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Records of problems: 90 days.
  • Backups: may hold deleted data for up to 30 days more before it expires.

Your choices

  • Take it with you. In Audiken, click the gear, then “Download everything as a zip file”.
  • Delete it. In the same place, “Delete my account” removes your files, transcripts, everything made from them, your usage records and your sign-in, and the copies held by the AI service. If you have a paid plan, cancel it first so that you are not charged again.
  • Ask us. You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold, or to be taken off the invitation list, by writing to privacy@audiken.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your privacy regulator.

How it is protected

Everything travels over encrypted connections. Each account’s files are kept in their own area, and the server refuses any request that reaches outside it. Access to the systems behind Audiken is limited and protected by two-step sign-in. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects your data, we will tell you.

Age

Audiken is made for adults and for college and university students. It is not meant for anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so here and, if you have an account, by email before the change takes effect.
