Why there are limits at all
Turning speech into text and answering from your files costs real money for every hour and every answer, and the best AI costs several times what a lighter one does. The limits are set so that each plan pays for what it uses. That is the whole reason the free plan is small and runs on a lighter model, and why the paid plan does not.
Questions about pricing
Do I need a card for the free plan?
No. The free plan asks for an email address and nothing else.
What is the difference between the two AIs?
Both read your files, answer from them and name their sources, and transcription is the same on both plans. The free plan answers with a faster, lighter model. Premium answers with the most capable model we offer, which is noticeably better at hard reasoning, long documents, maths and building files.
What counts as a recording hour?
Only the time the microphone is recording. Reading transcripts, chatting, flashcards and everything else you do afterwards use no hours.
What happens when I reach a limit?
Recording will not start, or the AI features pause, until your month starts again. The app shows the date. Your files, transcripts and flashcards all stay available.
Can the free plan run out for everyone?
Yes, and we would rather say so than hide it. Every recorded minute and every answer costs us money, so the free plan is paid for from a fixed monthly budget shared by everyone on it. In a busy month that budget can run out early. Free recording and AI features then pause until the next month, the app tells you so, and nothing you have made is lost. Paid plans are never affected.
How do I cancel?
In the app: click the gear, then “Manage or cancel subscription”. You keep Premium until the end of the month you have paid for, then your account moves to the free plan. Nothing is deleted.
Is there a plan for teams or schools?
Not yet. Each account is one person’s. If you want one for a team, a class or a school, write to hello@audiken.com.
Can I leave and take my work with me?
Yes. Download everything in your account as a zip file at any time, and delete your account whenever you like.
