Course import

Your whole course in Audiken, in one click

Audiken works from your course files, so getting them in should take seconds, not an afternoon of downloading. Open a course in MyLearningSpace, press “Send to Audiken”, and every file arrives in its own space, named by week.

Accounts are opening a few at a time. No card needed, and one email when yours is ready.

Three ways in, all of them quick

  • One click from MyLearningSpace with the Send to Audiken extension for Chrome
  • Named the way your course is: “Week 2 - Grading.docx”, so files from different weeks stay apart
  • Only what is new: send a course again later and the files you already have are left out
  • A course zip: MyLearningSpace’s own Download button saves one, and Audiken unpacks it
  • A link: a professor’s public course page, or a shared Google Doc, Slides or Drive file

How it works

  1. Add the extension

Download it below and add it to Chrome. It takes a minute, once.

  2. Open a course in MyLearningSpace

A “Send to Audiken” button appears at the bottom right of the course. Press it and it lists the course’s files.

  3. Choose where they go

Audiken opens and asks which space the files belong in. A space for the same course is offered first, or it makes a new one named after the course.

Add the extension to Chrome

  1. Download the Send to Audiken extension and unzip it.
  2. In Chrome, open chrome://extensions and turn on Developer mode at the top right.
  3. Choose Load unpacked and pick the unzipped folder.
  4. Open a course in MyLearningSpace and press Send to Audiken at the bottom right.

It works on MyLearningSpace and on Brightspace (D2L) sites at a brightspace.com address. Keep Audiken signed in in the same Chrome.

What the extension does, and does not do

It does nothing until you press its button on a course page. Then it reads that course’s table of contents and its files, the same way your own clicks would, through the sign-in you already have. It sends them only to your own Audiken account, in the same Chrome. It never sees your password, reads nothing else, and keeps nothing once Audiken has the files. Links to other websites and kinds of file Audiken cannot read, such as videos, are left out and counted.

Without the extension

On the Audiken home screen, choose Course from MyLearningSpace. It walks you through MyLearningSpace’s own Download button (Content, then Table of Contents, then Download), which saves the whole course as one zip. Choose that zip and Audiken makes a space named after the course with every file in it. For a professor’s public course website, use From a link in a space’s Files tab: Audiken lists the files the page links to, and you tick the ones you want.

Questions about bringing in a course

Is it allowed?

The extension only does what you could do yourself by clicking through the course and downloading each file: it uses your own sign-in and reads only what you can already see. Some course outlines ask that materials not be shared outside the course; Audiken keeps them in your own private account.

Does it work with other schools?

It works on MyLearningSpace and on Brightspace (D2L) sites at a brightspace.com address. Any Brightspace course can also be brought in as a zip from its Download button.

What about my professor’s own website?

Use “From a link” in a space’s Files tab. It reads public pages only; a page that needs a sign-in has to be downloaded first.

Which browsers?

Chrome. The zip and the link work in any browser.

What happens to videos and links?

They are left out, and the extension tells you how many. Audiken reads PDFs, Word, PowerPoint and Excel files, text and pictures.

Bring the course in once. Everything else works from it.
